You Shouldn’t Quit That Job You Hate

At least, not yet

I worked in a job I hated for four years. I know what it’s like to desperately want to quit your job but feel responsible for taking care of your family (or yourself). You don’t want to stay where you are, but you don’t have many choices right now.

Everyone is talking about what’s driving the Great Resignation, but you’re trying to figure out how to survive Monday. You’re dying to move on to something better, but it’s not that simple, is it?

It can be hard to decide when to leave your job. Even if you’re in a bad situation at work, at least you know what to expect every day. But if you stick around too long, you get desperate to take any opportunity to leave.

That’s when things get dangerous.

Don’t leave until you know this

I used to have a co-worker who hated her job, so she interviewed for a new position. After waiting nearly a month, she found out she didn’t get it.

At her quarterly review, our manager said something that infuriated her. In short, our manager warned my co-worker not to jump into a new role to escape her current one. Why? Because doing so would not make her any happier.
